AER Control Systems Can Help You Comply with
OSHA’s Hexavalent Chromium
Standard
NEW HAVEN, CT; FEB. 2010 — AER Control Systems offers several
products that will help you meet OSHA’s
Hexavalent Chromium standard.
The deadline for compliance is May 30, 2010. After
this date if an OSHA inspector finds that you are out of compliance,
then you could be issued a fine.
OSHA’s maximum exposure level for Hexavalent
Chromium is 5 micrograms per cubic meter in an eight-hour time period.
This is where AER Control Systems can
help.
All of AER Control Systems' products will meet the OSHA standard.
In particular, for the Welding and Grinding industries, the Small
Portable Cartridge (SPC) series has been very popular. The AER
Powered Downdraft Bench (APB) is a great choice if a table is required for
welding or grinding on stainless steel or chrome metal parts. If
your parts are very large, then the AER Control Systems Powered
Booth Module (PBM) is a perfect choice, as it is designed to be the back
wall of a booth, pulling the hexavalent chromium fumes or grinding
dust away from the operator’s
breathing zone.
AER Control Systems also offers the ceiling-hung Horizontal
Cartridge Filter (HCF) collector, the free-standing Vertical
Cartridge (VCF) collector, and the larger Vertical
Cartridge Downflow (VCDF) collector. These three types of collectors can
be ducted to Extraction Arms (EA Series) or to a
variety of capture hoods, an ideal solution for robotic welding
machines such as plasma or laser-cutting tables.
AER Control Systems' units comply with the OSHA Hexavalent Chromium
standard by offering the strongest blowers to draw
fumes or dust into the inlet of the filtration unit. Then the unit
uses efficient MERV 15 NANO flame-retardant cartridge filters
rated for 99.999% at 0.5 microns. Welding fumes can typically be
in the size range of 0.3 to 0.7 microns, so in addition to
the NANO cartridge filter AER Control Systems recommends a secondary
backup safety HEPA filter which has a guaranteed efficiency of 99.97%
at 0.3 microns.
If you have any questions or concerns on how to meet the OSHA Hexavalent
Chromium Standard, please give AER Control Systems a call at 866-265-2372
to speak with an experienced applications engineer or an independent
sales representative.
